Registration for the 2021 CYN Summit
is CLOSED. See you Friday in Ord! Thursday, October 21 at 6:30pm you are invited for peer learning and networking during our pre-summit event, Taste of Valley County This delicious evening will offer a unique experience, visiting local businesses for a three course meal, specific to Valley County while providing an opportunity for connecting with peers from across the state. Taste of Valley County is limited to 50 participants. THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT.
Friday, October 22, 8:30am - 4:00pm. We welcome you to Trotter event Center. Keynote speaker Melody Warnick will start our day, followed by breakout sessions, and the announcement of Young Nebraskan Award Winners. The afternoon will feature two phenomenal Nebraskan speakers - Feroz Mohmand and Becky Boesen. We'll also offer the very popular, Open Space Conversations, many of you experienced at the Pender Summit. Registration opens at 8:30am with the summit starting promptly at 9:00am. The summit will conclude at 4:00pm. REGISTRATION IS CLOSED. CYN has a block of rooms at Cobblestone Inn & Suites. You can reserve a room by calling 308-728-5122. |

An Employee-Driven Approach
Doing More Good Tammy Day Daycos Businesses care about communities and support efforts that increase the quality of life for people who live and work there. But could they do more? Businesses need strong communities, and communities need strong businesses. This session demonstrates how an employee driven approach to doing business with purpose creates greater community impact, better business outcomes, and powerful connections between people, communities and needs. Red Carpet Experience Katy McNeil Columbus Area Convention and Visitors Bureau This session is a high level overview of the role of tourism in communities. We will identify methods and share ideas on how our communities do (or could) roll out the red carpet both literally and figuratively to visitors and events. The Art of Leadership Derek Rusher Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership is not about you, it starts with you! If you want to be a great leader, you must first be a great leader of yourself. This interactive program challenges leaders to find their authentic leadership style. Leaders will be tested to look at themselves differently, and it will change how they lead and communicate in every part of their life. |

Andrew Ambriz Sehnert's Bakery Professional Reinventer. From Meat Science to Economic Development to Bakery. 2021 brought about a lot of CHANGE for the Ambriz Family as Andrew transitioned from working an office position in community development to owning a hometown, multi-generational family bakery. This session will share the journey of considering career change and business ownership as well as share insights for a successful transition out of one career and into another. Harvest Health Benefits from the Flavors of Fall Kayla Hinrichs & Cindy Brison University of Nebraska Extension Learn about fall foods and how you can bring beauty to your plate with vibrant color. Participants will learn nutritional benefits of incorporating these foods along with mindful eating strategies. Participants will participate in a chocolate tastings and sample fall foods. Ready to Run Greta Leach Mission Matters Have you ever thought about running for office in your local community? Do you want to help more young people have a voice? Our communities' futures depend on effective leaders serving in positions like board of education and city council. Hear the stories of a few young Nebraskans who have run and been elected. This interactive panel will include opportunities to ask questions. |
Deep Dive Session |
An alternative to the three sessions of breakout speakers, participants will have the opportunity take a deep dive into becoming an entrepreneurial community. Learn how young"er" entrepreneurs from Ord, Broken Bow, Hastings, Grand Island, Valentine and Columbus became successful in their communities. Ask questions about how their communities supports small business development and how this could benefit yours. University of NE Extension Educator, Shawn Kaskie, will facilitate a town-hall style discussion with Ord Chamber/Economic Development leaders, sharing their current process as an eCommunity to increase their Entrepreneurial Ecosystem capacity.
This session will take place at the CCC Learning Center, 1514 K Street, Ord, NE. It is a five minute drive from Trotter Event Center. |
